Goals and Objectives
Learning Objectives
Early Literacy:
Students will be able to sign routine English and Spanish songs while developing pre-literacy skills. These include vocabulary development, increased understanding of word meanings, mastery of math concepts, science application, and improving language acquisition for both mono and dual-language learners.
American Sign Language:
(ASL) is a visual language. Using natural gestures, Ms. D. uses a multimodality approach, targeting fine/gross motor skills, writing, cognitive, social-emotional and communication development.
Interaction: Signing with Music:
The program embellishes existing methodology with a multimodality approach to teaching primary school-age children. Students will engage in the learning process through singing, signing, and rhythmic expression.
Rational:
Multimodality approaches not only boost communication skills; these methods enhance academic achievement by providing key learning concepts and proven teaching strategies. The relationship between visual, aural, and spatial aspects of interaction and environments prepares students for the roles they will each assume in our diverse society.
